GPS driver to GNSS API

Hi,

OS: Windows 10
Editor: SEGGER Embedded Studio for ARM (Nordic Edition) V5.50c (64-bit)
nrfjprog version: 10.14.0
JLinkARM.dll version: 7.52d
nRF Connect SDK version: 1.6.0
SUPL client library version: 0.7.1
nRF9160 modem firmware version: 1.2.3

We have been having some problems with the periodic GPS mode with the GPS driver on our custom nRF9160 board and I've been requested a few times by Nordic employees to use the new GNSS API. And at some point we have to do the GPS driver -> GNSS API change anyway because the driver was deprecated since SDK v1.7.0.

So I wonder if it's possible for Nordic to provide the required changes when moving from the nRF9160 GPS driver to GNSS API for the "old" Asset Tracker application and/or for the A-GPS sample. I see that they are still using the GPS driver also on master branch.

I would like to have at least one of those updated as it seems for me that they are much more simpler or easier to understand than the Asset Tracker v2 or the GPS sample.

Also, should there be any known issues if we would start to use SDK v1.7.0 instead of current v1.6.0 as we are not yet using revision B1 and mFW 1.3.x? Do you recommend to use v1.6.0 or v1.7.0 with mFW 1.2.3?

Regards,
Tero
