[INFO] NCS's adoption of the latest Zephyr LTS v2.7?

Dear Nordicsemi Developers,

as the latest Zephyr LTS v2.7 has just come out for a few days, we are considering updating our firmware base SDK to a newer version. So we want to know if the current NCS version 1.7 is also planned for this LTS kernel, or we have to wait for the next versions (maybe the NCS 1.8). We would be very grateful if you could provide us with some of the insight information about the development of NCS related to the newest Zephyr kernel. That would make our decision clearer.

A little information about our company: We are developing IoT solutions focusing on long-range low-power connections like cellular NBIoT. We are currently using NCS v1.6 and nrf91 as the main development platform for some of our products. Some of the newer features from the NCS v1.7 are pretty nice to have, and we would like to have them integrated into our next development.

Thank you in advance,

Duy Anh Pham

  • Hi,

nRF Connect SDK v1.8.0 will be using Zephyr 2.7. The upmerge for the SDK has just started and the progress can be tracked on github: https://github.com/nrfconnect/sdk-zephyr/pull/637

Barring any delays, we expect to release v1.8.0 by the end of the year.

Generally, questions about roadmaps should be directed to your regional sales manager.

If you do not know who your regional sales manager is, send me a private message with your location and contact information, and I will have them contact you.
