nRF9160 and eSIM module first time initialization

Good afternoon,

I have a question regarding the nRF9160 and the eSIM configuration. We have developed a prototype PCB based on the nRF9160 DK and included an eSIM. However, the nRF seems to power on SIM_1V8 and then after 100ms immediately deactivate it. It does this twice.

Using the LTE Monitor software for the Modem (provided by Nordic) and the latest firmware (1.3x) and AT client, we can see the error "Failed to init". 

Are there any initialization or first time setups that we are missing?

What is it that "failed to init"?

Do you have any logs you can share?

And, just to confirm, you have updated the modem firmware and application firmware?

'failed to initialize' is the message for UICC shown in LTE-Link Monitor, this corresponds to AT%XSIM? cause:
9 – USIM card failure
and it was a nasty soldering issue with the SIM_IO pin.
