nRF52810-QCAA DC/DC DEC2?

Hello,

  We are using the nRF52810-QCAA(QFN32) in a Beacon application.  We have seen serious degradation in Radio performance while using the DC/DC vs. the LDO.  More than a 2X range loss.  In reviewing everything one thing that comes up is DEC2 in which I have seen on the forums that it is necessary on the WLCSP packages but not on the QFN and secondly to just follow the Reference schematics. 

 The reference schematic for the nRF52810-QCAA shows DEC2 as a NC so I have left this off of my design.  BUT BUT BUT BUT....

I have not really seen an explanation as to what adding a Cap to DEC2 pin actually does and being that I am experiencing issues when using the DC/DC if this may help this situation?

Does adding a Cap at DEC 2 provide additional filtering what specifically does this do?

Hi Frank,

Adding a capacitor to DEC2 will impact the sensitivity of the receiver, so this is not recommended. If you face issues with the DC/DC performance, try checking the inductors' placement and also make sure that they are quite away from the crystal.
