Full modem firmware update for modem v1.3.0

I am working in a project where we want to be able to do full modem firmware update with FOTA for modem version 1.3.x. According to the release notes, in order to do this, we need to use the .cbor file in the zip from the release.

I have tried to follow the example in samples/nrf9160/http_update/full_modem_update. This sample however only uses v1.2.1 and v1.2.2. Can I follow the same steps for v1.3.x using the .cbor file? Or do I need to do something more? Like some digest?

I have modified the sample to fit my project. My hardware has a nrf9160 which downloads the firmware via LwM2M. The hardware also has an external flash memory which I use for the firmware update. I am currently using NCS version 1.6.1.

You use the same way to upgrade to v1.3.x

But how come the same sample works for the v1.2.x and the v1.3.x? It looks like the v1.2.x downloaded are .bin files, and the code actually appears to do cbor-decoding. Are the bin files actaully cbor files? Or is the cbor decoding not really done?

I don't understand what you mean, who is Latte, and why am I interested in that modem firmware image? And what documentation are you referring to?

The readme file for the samples/nrf9160/http_update/full_modem_update in master. Now there is a ".bin" file for v1.3.0 and v1.3.1 to select also.

Ok, so do I need to use the .bin file? I thought I had to use the .cbor file from the v1.3.0 release?

Because I have tried using the .cbor file and it says that the hash is invalid.

Nevermind, I diffed the .bin file and my .cbor file from the zipped release and they were identical. But my device still complains that the hash is incorrect. Can I easily verify my download on the external flash in some other way than to check the hash? For instance, how do I know that the expected hash that is part of the cbor header is correct?

.cbor is the correct file, but it should not match the .bin file since the .bin file is only delta-image.

No, I diffed the .bin file from nrfconnectsdk.s3.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com/fmfu_1.3.0.bin with the .cbor file from the zipped release.
