Using NRF9160 together with NRF52840 for Bluetooth connectivity

Hi,

I am working on designing specifications for a new product, which will potentially be using the NRF9160 as the main processor, since the main application is centered around LTE-M connectivity. A key requirement is BLE connectivity as well, and I'm looking into using the NRF52840. 
How can the BLE functionality on the 52840 be controlled from the 9160? Is this even possible? Or would it be easier with some other dedicated BLE chip?
What's a suitable/recommended approach?

Are the active NFC features of the NRF52840 also accessible via the HCI/UART interface?

No, the HCI is bluetooth specific, for communicating between the host and the controller.
