nRF52 release in sight?

We would like to use the nRF52 in a bachelors thesis for at least one of our students projects. The project is scheduled to take about 2-3 months and in this time they shall also design a custom PCB with their application.

The project starts at the beginning of the next month, so what I need to know is if there is a release date for the nRF52. I know that the Preview DK is out but as far as I see they do not ship samples of the nRF52 itself with it and I neither can order them seperately. We really would like to try the nRF52 in a project, but it would be a pity if there was no chance to finish it because we can not obtain the Microcontroller.

I meant to ask, what feature(s) of the nRF52 did you require for this project which the current nRF51 series don't provide? The nRF52 is great, it's definitely a step up with a few features I think lots of us have been waiting for, but it is an evolution and the nRF51s are very capable devices too. Was there something you specifically needed, like NFC or the 4x processor speed?

One part of the project would be interacting with an accelerometer. The integrated FPU would have made calculations much easier, faster and more power efficient.
