Connected Devices panel (in vs code) does not discover my device while in the programmer the device can be seen with no issues

Hi all,

Recently I've accuired a nordic thingy:91. I've played with it and have been able to put on the default IOT software used with the simcard and the nordic cloud it is working.

I've installed the visual studio code plugin and am about to try to make my own sw but now I see that my device is not discovered. What do I need to do to discover the device in VS code? doe I need to install a different driver?

When I open the programmer from nRF connect for desktop I can see the device.

I can't seem to scan the devices. Does VS code need Administrator rights to do so?

My PC is a Windows 10 device.

Thanks for the assistance.

  • Just tried on a different laptop with no vs code installed yet and installed all I think I need to get it working but it failed.

    steps i did:

    1) install VS code clean from Microsoft (version 1.62.3)

    2) installed nRF connect desktop V3.9.1

    3) installed Toolchain manager (v0.10.1)

    4) installed nRF Connect SDK v1.7.1

    5) clicked open VS code

    6) allow all preinstalled settings needed to install before opening VS code all were successfull

    7) needed to install nRF command line tools 10.15.1 x64 (restarted PC after installation)

    8) in VS code I still can't find the device connected (thingy91)

So i thing it is my thingy that does not respond correctly or something. Ive tried in boot mode (pressing the button on startup) but that didn't help either.

So now I'm lost here on how to proceed...
