I am creating a battery powered vending machine that syncs inventory data to a cloud. This is my first venture into wireless internet devices and I chose the nrf9160 because it has great low power consumption compared to other cellular data devices. My background is in Atmel and AVR studio (started with Arduino). I plan to design a PCB that will have an Atmel microcontroller connected via serial/UART to the nrf9160. I was hoping that the nrf9160 would more or less be a "black box that supplies an internet connection", but looking through the documentation I didn't see an intuitive way to send my MQTT publish data to the cloud.
Is there somewhere I am not looking at the documentation, or does anyone have learning resources they can point me towards?
