Function of AT%XDEEPSEARCH explained in detail

Dear all,

is it possible to get a more detailed explanation what the function "averaging cell search mode" activated by AT%XDEEPSEARCH=1 does?

Best regards,

Peter

  • Hello Peter,

I will need to forward this to our modem FW team. I will get back to you within the day or tomorrow.

    Kind regards,
    Øyvind

  • Peter, my sincere apologies for not responding earlier. I have finally gotten an answer from our modem team.

Deep search improves cell search performance by 6dB at cost of approximately 8 times longer cell search time compared to normal search. In normal coverage the UE does not typically require deep search to access a cell. It should be noted that in coverage limited or no coverage cases enabling the deep search may increase the UE power consumption. Hence the deep search may be most suitable for static UEs that can tolerate longer search times.

    Kind regards,
    Øyvind

  • Thank you, this answers my question.
