USB Connection for nRF9160

Dear Devzone:

I am developing the design of a PCB that implements the nRF9160 SiP module, I have doubts about how to make the communication interface to connect the module with the nRF Connect APP of my PC.

1 Is it enough to just put a USB to Serial converter and connect it to the UART of the nRF9160?
2 Is it necessary or advisable to place the pins of the nRF91 Debug, that is, VDD, SWDIO, SWCLK and GND?
3 Can I program and debug the nRF9160 from the USB to Serial converter or does it have to be from the nRF91 Debug?

1. Yes, this should work for serial communication.

2. Yes. You need to rout the SWD interface for programming and debugging.

3. No, you need the the SWD interface for programming the device.
