nrf9160 DK - cannot activate iBasis SIM

Trying to activate iBasis SIM in the nrfcloud.com, getting message "User cannot be updated" with no extra information.

I'm in Dublin, Ireland.

An activation dialog keeps spinning for ~5 minutes before spitting an error message, or sometimes spins forever and needs to be refreshed to start over. An extreme slowness of all nrfcloud registration operations, I guess, is "work as intended", so won't complain about it.

What can I do to make my SIM activated, and my nrf9160 DK working?

    Yes, this should be made more clear, however, the nRF9160 DK Getting started documentation does state

    Depending on where you are located, you need the image with either LTE-M or Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) support. See iBasis IoT network coverage for information about which mode is supported in your location.

    The nRF Cloud does not consider the location you are in. There is an issue with nRF Cloud front end as you should have been able to register the SIM either way. It is unfortunately the network providers who control what SIM should be fully supported in their networks.
