GPS fix time optimization

Hello,

I am trying to optimize GPS power consumption, and the fix time. The GPS search period is approximately 10 minutes, modem fw 1.3.1 and nRF SDK 1.7.0. We are also using the Nordic SUPL library to get the A-GPS data. There is an external GPS antenna connected to the device, and it is placed outside a window. I see fix times from 25s to 1s, however, I would like to get the fix time as close as possible to the 1s, to conserve power.

Couple of questions regarding this:

1. Does the Operational mode impact the fix time?
2. Are there any other relevant configurations to the fix time than the Low accuracy / Normal mode?
3. What kind of fix times can be expected with for example 10 min GPS search period?

There is not much else you can do to get a more consistent result.
