CES demonstration - Low latency BT LE audio

Hi,

In your LE audio presentation from CES that you had a demonstration of a low latency setup with LE audio. We are more curious about the setup you demonstrated so we have two questions:

  • What is the bitrate for the low latency setup? What we are worried about is whether we have to trade audio quality for low latency. Like: High audio quality or bit rate => high latency, low audio quality or bit rate => low latency. The optimum from a pure audio quality point of view would be to have high bit rate
  • Why are you using two separate receivers in the setup you are demonstrating?
  • Hello,

What we are worried about is whether we have to trade audio quality for low latency. Like: High audio quality or bit rate => high latency, low audio quality or bit rate => low latency. The optimum from a pure audio quality point of view would be to have high bit rate

One of the great advantages of the new LE Audio specification is that you can balance the bitrate and latency to achieve the lowest possible power consumption for your product. So, you could for instance go for a higher bitrate with lower latency at the expense of a higher power consumption, or you may scale back the bitrate and/or latency to achieve a lower power consumption - depending on the requirements and constraints of your specific application/product.

I have forwarded the demo specific questions to the demo developers - I will update you on those as soon as they get back to me.

    Best regards,
    Karl

  • Hello again,

The developers just got back to me about the demo.

    1. The LC3 encoded bitrate is 96 kbps to each earbud/headset device, so 96kbps per channel, and the audio frame is 10ms, sampling rate is 48KSpS.

    2. If you are referring to the Connected Isochronous demo, the reason why there's two receivers is because we are demonstrating "True Wireless Stereo" solution, which means one receiver for left channel (left earbud) and one for right channel (right earbud). We could also stream stereo to a single kit if desirable.

    Best regards,
    Karl
