Bluetooth Qualification nRF52840 with sdk v1.8.0 and Zephyr 2.7.x

We are currently in the process of looking into the Bluetooth certification as part of a Homekit accessory, and the documentation raised some questions:

Thanks in advance for some clarification on that matter,

  • Hi Robert,

The qualification for NCS1.8.0 is still undergoing, most of the tests have passed, it will come soon according to my colleague.

In Zephyr, the last controller qualifications were done for Zephyr 2.2.x - how about Zephyr 2.7.x which is used in the SDK v1.8.0?

According to the NCS Bluetooth LE Controller document, Zephyr open-source BLE controller and Nordic SoftDevice Controller are optional choices for your development. The Zephyr open-source BLE controller has no guarantee and can be used by any company so we are only concentrating our work on the Nordic SoftDevice controller after Zepnyr 2.2.x. SoftDevice controller will keep following the latest BLE specification and our constant maintenance. This doesn't prevent anyone else from qualifying the Zephyr controller but it will take some effort and money to get it qualified.

    Best regards,

    Charlie
