which one best for programming nRF Dongle and Thingy 52

Hi all,

I would like to program the nRF dongles and Thingy 52, but i don't know how to choose right development kit  to program the dongle and thingy.

Which one is best and right choice nRF 52 DK or nRF 52840 DK?

(Or just Jlink is enough to program.)

Thanks.

  • Hi

The nRF52840 Dongle doesn't need a DK or J-Link to program at all, as it comes with a bootloader from scratch that lets you program it with DFU over USB. You can check out the Dongle programming tutorial for details.

Neither of these devices require a DK, as a J-Link will indeed be enough to program them, but if you plan on doing development of any kind, I would strongly recommend getting an nRF52 DK or nRF52840 DK as that will make flashing and debugging various iterations of your application/project.

    Best regards,

    Simon
