I need to know in which case the SIW_DET pin is used. Does it depend on the version of the nRF9160 ? Then which versions ?
And is this detection function better in software or hardware ?

Hello,
according to the Pin assignments of the nRF9160 Product Specification, SIM_DET is not used and needs to be left floating.

Markus
Hi, thanks for your answer
The problem is that on the thingy91 this pin is connected to the sim holder which have a switch mounted. It can be disconnected by removing an R0 but I don't undstand why the design would be made this way if the SIM_DET is not in use in every versions of the nRF9160.

Jean

Thanks for your feedback, Jean!
I’m not a hardware expert, but to me it looks like that SIM_DET is not connected neither on the Thingy:91, see picture below.
