How do you program the SWDIO and SWDCLK of the nRF52832 DK?

I currently have a nRF52832 DK connected to an external board with a BC832 module connected to the nRF52832 DK through a P19 connector. The voltage I have running and connections I have are correct but I have questions on the software side of things. I was wondering if there are any examples that use this P19 connector and program the SWDIO and SWDCLK. If not, is there a certain process to program the SWDIO and SWDCLK?

Any advice on this regard helps.

Hi,

 

When you have a external board connected to either P19 or P20, with a valid VDD of 3.0V, the nRF52-DK will automatically switch to debug the target connected on the specific port. More info can be found here:

For programming: You can use nrfjprog, JLink tools, or nRF connect for desktop - programmer application, or any other JLink compatible software on the PC side (Keil, IAR, SES, etc)

My setup seems to be correct and I am currently using SES. Are there any examples that use P19 and the SWDIO and SWDCLK? I am trying to code these two and finding certain commands could really help.

As long as you have connected according to the former link to the user guide, it should be routed to your external board when you program.

Meaning: you do not have to do anything to "switch debug port" on the PC side.

Just to clarify...

If I have code that's able to read the ADC of the DK and then connect P19 to an external board with a BC832 then it should be able to read the ADC of the BC832 and not the DK? And no additional code is needed to establish this connection because my previous code establishes it with the DK already?

A program that works on a specific board, is not guaranteed to work in other configurations. You can have different settings, like not having an external 32k source, as well as use different GPIOs.

 

To answer your question directly: No, it is not guaranteed that it will then run on another module. However, it is likely that only small changes are needed.
