Thingy91 no matching trait found on clean install

Hello there,

I'm starting out on the nordic platform for the first time but I'm running into an issue. When I try to flash the nRF9160 SiP modem firmware with the latest version of nRF Connect for Desktop (V3.10.0) and the latest version of the programmer (V2.3.1) it gives me: "Modem DFU failed with error: no matching trait found". I'm running the latest version of windows 10 Pro (V10.0.19044 Build 19044). I've also installed the latest version of the nRF Connect SDK (V1.8.0). Just to be sure I didn't screw up something in the install I installed the device on two completely seperate machines, both giving the same error.

All of these programs where installed through the nRF Connect for Desktop program so I can't really see a way where I messed up. I've already looked at:

Case ID: 282080
Case ID: 280484
Case ID: 279656

But they seem either outdated or you have to undo something, which I can't, because, fresh install. VScode also doesn't seem to be able to connect to the device.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance,

-Sevn

  • Hey Markus,

Thanks for helping out. I'll summarise for anyone (and myself) reading this later:

    • Start by booting into recovery mode by powering on and holding SW4, connect it over usb
    • Download the application and firmware combo
    • Extract the contents from the zip into a folder
    • from the "img_fota_dfu_hex" folder, pick the connectivity bridge hex.
    • load it into the programmer and hit write.
    • after that, reboot while holding SW3
    • You can now write the firmware update zip.
    • reboot again by holding SW3
    • You can now flash the at client hex.

I got it working on my side now. Thanks again for the help.
