Flashing via the BL

is it possible to flash the empty (from the manufacturer) nrF52 series via the BL?

Hi, 

What do you mean by the "BL"? Is it the bootloader? If so, I don't think there is the bootloader as you said "the empty device from the manufacturer". 

If you are using nRF52 DK with nRF5 SDK, have a look at Setting up your toolchain and Programming an application. However, I would suggest you start with the new SDK, NCS. See this nRF Connect SDK and nRF5 SDK statement

oh, sorry by BL I meant the Bluetooth 

To clarify my question, the idea is to flash the nRF52xxx part via the bluetooth, e.g. from a phone or other device with a bluetooth... please let me know, if I get my question across?

The answer to the original question is no because it needs the Bluetooth stack which the empty device from the manufacturer doesn't have. 

To update image from a phone or other device with Bluetooth, you can take a look 

Getting started with Nordic's Secure DFU bootloader, a step by step guide (for nRF5 SDK)

Add DFU support to your application  (for NCS)
