nRF9160DK SIM Registration Test

Hi, I received nRF9160DK kit with a SIM. I want to test SIM registration on Vodafon Network , Data transfer to a server ? Is there any concerned sample available in SDK Connect ?

which SIM card are your referring to? Is it the iBasis SIM card which is included in the nRF9160 development kit?

Yes, it is iBASIS type SIM with nRF9160DK.

Hello Gulzar,

iBasis does not support LTE-M or NB-IoT in India, so I’m afraid you will not be able to use this SIM card with your nRF9160 DK. I recommend you to check with your national mobile operators for a SIM card instead.

A good starting point for testing a SIM card is the Asset Tracker v2, Serial LTE modem or AT Client. They are all included in the nRF9160 DK application and modem firmware packages.

Hi, instead of iBasis SIM, May I use any Indian normal SIM ? If not, what kind of special SIM should I ask to Mobile Operator to provide ?

I already have 5 normal SIMS of vodafone with Data plans.

No, only LTE-M or NB-IoT SIM cards are supported by the nRF9160 modem. You need to ask the mobile network operator specifically for one of those two.
