BLE_proximity example

I used the nRF51822 Evaluation kit and flashed the BLE_proximity example on to the PCA100001 board. In the master control panel the USB dongle measured -46 dBm(Nordic_prox 0xYYYYYYYY)(-46 dBm). EVen though i place the board and USB dongle so close i get -46 dBm. why is it -46 dBm and not lesser? Can someone please explain

Hi,

The RSSI has a valid range from -50 to -80 dBm (PS chapter 8.6), which is why you see such a high number, even if the board is placed in close proximity. The RSSI is basically saturated.
