Compatibility of NRF MESH Bootloader (MESH SDK5) with NRF Connect SDK

Hi , 

We have deployment a ble mesh solution developed with NRF mesh sdk version 5 with the bootloader provided with the SDK. Now our requirements have increased and we are planning to shift to  nrf connect sdk v1.9.0 for further development. I would like to know if there is a compatibility of nrf connect sdk with the bootloader provided with the mesh sdk v5 , if not what can be alternatives .

Hi,

I am afraid there is no compatibility between the nRF5 SDK DFU solutions and the solutions in nRF Connect SDK.

Hi,

There is no BLE Mesh DFU example code for nRF Connect SDK at this point in time, although we do want to add it in the future. For future plans and roadmaps, please contact our regional sales representative for your area. If you do not know who that is, ask in a private case or private message and we will let you know.

If a mesh based DFU solution is something you need before we can deliver from our end, then you may be able to implement something based on mcuboot. Please note that this will be specific to nRF Connect SDK, and not compatible with nRF5 SDK. The reason for this incompatibility is mainly related to flash placement restrictions and limitations with the Master Boot Record (MBR) from the old SDK.
