Two peripherals (keyboard) connect to one PC with one connection established?

Hi,

I want to build a wireless split keyboard (Left and right parts). I want them to connect to one PC but only need to establish the connection one time. Can both part use one connection that is established by only left part. Then the right part can send the message of keypress using the same connection as the left part?

Thanks for checking on my question.

  • Thank you for your reply.
But I concerning about the battery consumption for the part that work as central. It will drain more battery current due to listening. That why I think it's better to connect both of them to the PC.

  • I think it is normal to have multiple HID keyboards for atleast Windows. In that sense, you can have your two left and right split keyboards connected to PC as HID devices. I am not sure if it is the same with other operating systems.
But yes, one device being central will consume more current.

    Edit:

I did some more research and it seems like Linux and MacOS also allows multiple HID keyboards to one device. So yes, you can have two sides of your keyboard act as two separate keyboards with your own key mapping.
