Need Help With Connecting (configuring) NRF9160dk as LWM2M Client to the Coiote Iot device management(test server).

Hello Developers,

I am facing a issue to connect my nrf9160dk as a lwm2m client in the test coiote iot device management server.

I am following the official documentation to connect but even if i configure the device to connect to the particular server, the device is not connecting.

I hope i can get some help if anybody have faced same issue  and have a different soutions.

server adress i am using: https://lwm2m-test.avsystem.io/

iam using connect via management server.port :5684

Hi tejas_dev,

I am not sure how you get access to https://lwm2m-test.avsystem.io/, and what the difference it has with the above two demo servers. 

Have you done any tests with Leshan Demo Server web UI or Coiote Device Management server mentioned by nRF9160: LwM2M Client? same issues? You can find more useful information from the log output.

Thanks Charlie, i have found this sample to be working for coiote device management, however if i want to connect my icarus board the samples seems to be not working, i mean are there any different files to connect my icarus board and get the actual data not the simulated one

Hi tejas_dev,

You shouldn't expect a third-part board would work with official NCS samples directly, every sample has one section listing the board it supports.

You need to either check with the manufacturer if they have a similar sample you need or port the original sample by yourself. NSC provides some guidance about how to work with a custom board and implement your own application based on NCS.

One silly question though, the command actinius_icarus_ns works for other samples will it be easier or better to make that sample as a lwm2m client sample with my sensor from icarus baord instead of creating a new board to the sample, because i see lot of adjustments need to be done if i create a new board and build for the same source file.

just a silly doubt hope it will clear my doubt in proceeding

Hi Tejas_dev,

No, you do not need to create a new device tree file(which describes the hardware) for this board since the manufacturer already add it to Zephyr project, but you do need to adapt the sample codes because some pins are modified and even some peripherals are not used on this custom board.
