"nRF Terminal: Start terminal" resulted in an error.

Yesterday, I tried to connect to my nRF5340's serial port in vscode by calling "nRF Terminal: Start terminal" from the command palette.  Unfortunately, the response I received was "Command 'nRF Terminal: Start terminal' resulted in an error (command 'nrf-terminal.startTerminal' not found).  I was using it with no issues earlier in the day, but had shut down the computer between the last successful use and the first failure.  I suspect that vscode may have updated and temporarily broken this feature.

  • Sorry, I should have mentioned:  All of the nRF terminal commands are failing, not just Start Terminal.

  • Hello,

I've tested with my nRF9160DK and had no issues running the command nRF Terminal: Start Terminal nor via "Connected Devices".

nRF Terminal extension was last updated March 8 (v2022.3.16) on my computer. And nRF Connect for VS Code was updated March 15 (v2022.3.104)

Can you please run the nRF Connect: Generate support information ?

    Kind regards,
    Øyvind

  • Hello again,

My apologies I have just received the news from our VS Code extension team. VS Code has released version 1.66 which broke nRF Terminal. An update of the nRF Terminal extension has just been published on Marketplace to fix this issue.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Kind regards,
    Øyvind
