nRF52840DK PPK and Battery life estimation

Hi everyone,

I would like to measure the total current consumption of the board in order to get an estimation of the battery life.
I am using PPK-2 and nRF Connect Power Profiler.

Board setting
- SB40: not cut
- SW10 to off
- SW6 to DEFAULT
- SW9 to VDD
- supply on P21

- Not sure if the wiring and the board setting are correct.

Then bellow the measurement :

I understand that if you divide the battery charge with the current, you obtain the battery life: mAh/ mA = h.

- Which value should I use in the equation the mean currents or the maximum peak?

- If it is the average current, what is the window duration I should select? (10ms/100ms/1s/10s/1min)

- Regarding accuracy, do I need to replace the power supply with the battery that I want to estimate?

Thanks

  • Hi,

I think using the average current for the highest possible time duration should be the best choice. Ideally, the current draw should be the same, so using the power supply to measure the current consumption should be ok.
