NRF52840 dongle : Impossible to load soft after cutting the ÙSB while using Tag Connect.

Both NRF were programmed thru USB NRF connect for Desktop programmer. 

Both NRF are running the same soft properly. 

To demonstrate the final look and put the dongle in a casing, I cut the USB part on one of them thinking I'll be able to reprogram it thru Tag connect. 

When using tag connect on a dongle with the USB part still there and plugged to a 5v battery I can program the NRF. 

Doing the same while still powering in 5v on VBUS after cutting the USB part on the dongle I get an error message on SES

Failed to connect to the target

No ID code Detected. 

Can you help and explain what I'm missing here?

When you say "cutting the USB part", did you physically cut the printed circuit board?  About where did you cut the board?

Yes physically cut it. It works and run the soft still properly but update doesn’t work.
