nRF9160 SiP modem firmware downgrade prevention

Hi

I'm looking for a clear statement about to do or not do modem firmware downgrades on production devices.

I know that

  • nrfxlib does not mention anything about modem downgrades
  • AT%XPRODDONE shall be sent after customer production is done. It enables modem downgrade prevention.

Elsewhere, e.g. in the "Updating the modem" section of the Production Programming documentation, I didn't find any more information about downgrade rules.

Could you please point me to a statement about upgrade/downgrade rules for the modem firmware such that I we can refer to them in our product design.

Many thanks,
Matthias

  • Hi,

In the MF download section you can see the notes that is included. From MF v1.3.0 a above we have the following statement: "After you upgrade to MFW 1.3.0 it is not recommended to downgrade to mfw 1.2.x or mfw 1.1.x.(potential file system issues)"

    Regards,
    Jonathan
