NRF connect formatting charecteristics

Hi,

I have created my own service and charecteristic 

1. But i am seeing only unknown service - How to give a name to this service

2. I am getting unknown charecteristic - How to name 

3. All the value comes in hex format - how can i change it to show readable format? like 34.5%, 12.2V

Hi,

The app does not support registering of custom UUIDs. It only relies on this database of known UUIDs: https://github.com/NordicSemiconductor/bluetooth-numbers-database. It also does not other data formats than hex and string.

Below is the code we use for notification for a 32bit value

hrm32=val32;

    //  float bvf = *((float*)&hrm32);

    rc = bt_gatt_notify(NULL, &ess_svc.attrs[1], &hrm32, sizeof(hrm32));

we are getting hex value as shown in the image

Can you help us  how to send as string (formatted string)

Do you have any examples?

You can use sprintf() to convert your data to a text string.

I tried sending "ABCD"

static char hrm32[5]="ABCD";

  rc = bt_gatt_notify(NULL, &ess_svc.attrs[1], &hrm32, sizeof(hrm32));

required value = ABCD  - is this possible?

Please try to remove the null terminator at the end. The app will only parse it as a string if the values are within certain range.

Yes, it is working now. We can close this ticket

once we remove the null value it works
