Change flashed firmware by default in runners.yaml

Hi everyone, 

I am developping on a custom board using nRF52840, using MCUboot v1.8.99-ncs1 and nRF Connect sdk v1.8. 

For development matters, I would like to change the .hex file flashed by default when using a west flash command. 

As far as I understand, this means modify the generated runners.yaml file as it was done in partition_manager.cmake to change the default flashed file to merged.hex. The thing is that the cmake file where I would like to set this up is executed before partition_manager.cmake and de facto rewritten to merged.hex. 

Is there any configuration I missed or a way to manage the cmake execution flow that would allow me to do this.

Have you tried --hex-file option ? 
For example:
west flash --hex-file C:\mine.hex

Another easy option is to use west build and then call nrfjprog --program your.hex

Indeed those commands work, my idea was rather to change the default .hex file flashed when calling west flash without any argument so that people building and using this project don't have to distinguish different generated file. 

If it is not possible, the solution will be to use the commands you proposed.

Sorry for the late answer. I'm checking internally if they have any suggestion. I will let you know if we find any solution.
