Hello!
Do you have any information on the antenna itself? Radiation pattern-diagram?
Edit: I would also like to have the specs of the antenna, eg: mismatch loss, insertion loss and other specs that could be relevant for a link budget.

Hi Anders,
we have not done measurements on the antenna, so I don't have much information to share. But generally, you could expect ~ 0 dBi gain of such an antenna.
To calculate the link budget, you could use a reference antenna, not ours, with known gain and radiation pattern.
Here is our white paper on the antenna/designing of l/4 printed monopole antenna.
Best regards,
Kaja

Thanks for the white paper.
Would you be able to give an estimated loss for the losses internally in the antenne? Eg. mismatch, insertion, connectors? Given the pcb and unknown components internally on the nRF52832, it would be hard for us to determine the loss through the whole process.
Hi,
the gain of the antenna is bad on a direction and will vary based on the direction, but you can as I said expect ~ 0 dBi, included internal losses.
Best regards,
Kaja
Thanks, do you know anything about the polarization of the trace antenna? We get really bad reading in the elevation plane.
As I said; We have not done measurements on the antenna.
Are you using the DK or are you using this antenna on a different design?
If you are using this antenna on a custom design, have you tuned the antenna?
Best regards,
Kaja
We are using the nRF52832 as a beacon with the standard PCB Trace antenna. I am wondering if the antenna is circular polarized or vertically/horizontally polarized.
This is not a question of measurements of losses in the development kit, but rather a question of design of the antenna.
