Using the Event Manager upstream candidate on non-Nordic products

Hi,

I would like to use the Event Manager for a product that is currently planned to use a Nordic product; however, I would like to be able to port the firmware (or parts thereof) down the road to products that potentially wouldn't.

The nRF Connect SDK has the LicenseRef-Nordic-5-Clause license.

However, the branch that Nordic attempted to upstream to Zephyr Project, but closed the PR due to technical disagreements, carries Apache License 2.0.

If we develop using the version from that branch, would we be able to port and distribute it per the Apache License 2.0, or would there be issues with this?

Hi,

The files in that PR are tagged with the Apache 2.0 license. You can use them however you want according that license and redistribute it again. But you cannot use updates we might include in nRF Connect SDK into your port without including Nordic 5 clause license.
