Power Profiler Kit II not visible on Power Profiler 3.4.3

Hello!

Im having problem running the PPK II on my PC with Ubuntu 20.

The device attaches to the PC, is visible as `/dev/ttyACM0` block device and dmesg shows no errors in the process.

Running nRF Connect for Desktop v3.11.0 and Power Profiler v.3.4.3 as in Documentation results in no device visible in "Select Device" step.

I managed to reproduce that on 2 PCs with Ubuntu 20 and one with Windows 10.

I tried using two JLink versions: 7.58b and 6.88c.

I checked udev rules and set full permissions for the block device.

I tried 5 different cables, plugged into both ports and only one (with the data).

Is there any step I could be missing? Can you suggest next steps to diagnose the problem?

Also - is it neccessary to connect 4pin VIN/VOUT/2xGND to the PPK2 to be recognised by Prower Profiler application?

  • Hi

Does the PPK II you have light up at all when it's plugged into your computer through the USB DATA/POWER port? There should be a green pulsing light when connected and waiting to be detected by the Power Profiler application.

You can try turning the device off, removing any power sources from it, then remove the plastic cover by unscrewing the four screws in the corner. Then short a connection between GND and TP34 on the PPK2 with a jumper. Put the cable back in USB DATA/POWER and power the board back on, remove the jumper after powering the kit on. This should put it into bootloader mode, and let you see the device as a serial number in the Power Profiler app. When selecting it it should get a prompt where you can program the Power Profiler application onto it, and let it move to normal operation.

    Best regards,
