nRF 5340 DK External Flash(MX25R6435FZNI - Macronix) Programming using J-link plus v10.1.

Hello,

I am working on to program external flash(MX25R6435FZNI - Macronix) of nRF 5340 DK board using SEGGER J-Link Plus v10.1 version.

I am following Direct mode(The flash is programmed directly via J-Link using the QSPI protocol) of programming method here,

QSPI 20 Pin connection make as per below URL in between J-Link and QSPI of nRF5340 DK board.

Used J-Flash SPI v7.60b tool to program external flash here and configuration (Options->Project Settings) in J-Flash SPI as per J-Link support and try to connect(Target->Connect->select J-Link) with Target but facing problem "Failed to auto-detect SPI flash" attached the error result and configuration screenshot here.

Can you please guide me how can I resolve that error?

What am trying above is the possible way to program external flash right?

Does my SEGGER J-Link Plus v10.1 version is capable to program external flash via QSPI in nRF5340 DK?

Hi

How to compile an example for the QSPI and preparing it to work with XIP is explained here, but please note that there are some changes to working with the nRF5340, as you'll need to use the nRF Connect SDK for the nRF5340DK. 

There's also an external flash section in the Thingy:53 user guide on using the QSPI.
