bare-metal for n00bs.

Hi. I would like to get into bare metal programming, and have decided to go for ARM processors. Are there any ns-kits or courses availible for purchase?

thnx in advance.

  • Hi,

This is a forum dedicated to Nordic Semiconductors products. You say you are interested in ARM processors; our new flagship, the nRF52, utilizes an ARM Cortex M4 CPU, and the nRF51 incorporates an ARM Cortex M0 CPU. I'm not sure what you mean by ns-kits, but Nordic provides several development kits and software development kits that make it easy for you to get started with our chips. I would recommend looking at the nRF52 DK. Our main focus at Nordic is wireless technology, like Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and most of the discussions here on devzone and on our support portal revolves around how to use BLE and how to use the nRF5x (or our older ICs) for practical applications. If your are only looking for advice on the really low level ARM programming I would suggest that you google for a more dedicated bare metal programming forum. There are probably other forums that can provide better support on bare metal programming than this one. If you are interested in the wireless aspects as well you are more than welcome to use this forum. We have a tutorial section showing you how to get started with our products and BLE, a blog section for more general tips and tricks and also an official support portal where you can discuss issues specifically related to our products in confidentiality with one of our support staff. Also make sure you take The Tour.
