LE Audio codecs

Right now there are 2 supported codecs: SBC and LC3. It also looks like that they are implemented in software.

Can we have other audio codecs (i.e. LC3plus HR, aptX or LDAC)?

Also, what's the max bitrate it's possible to achieve? Would be 1344 kbps (stereo) possible in the following configurations? And what about 672 kbps (stereo)?

Headset:

USB Audio (96 kHz) -> LC3plus HR encoding -> LE Audio -> RF -> LE Audio -> LC3plus HR decoding -> I2S

TWS:

USB Audio (96 kHz) -> LC3plus HR encoding -> LE Audio --> RF (single channel) -> LE Audio -> LC3plus HR decoding -> I2S 

                                                                                             \-> RF (single channel) -> LE Audio -> LC3plus HR decoding -> I2S

Audio Sharing:

USB Audio (96 kHz) -> LC3plus HR encoding -> LE Audio -> RF (dual channel) --> LE Audio -> LC3plus HR decoding -> I2S

In general the other codecs are "extra-cost" licensed codecs that will not be provided by NordicSemi

But the LE Subsystem does allow you to integrate other codecs yourself. You would have to license those other codecs from the respective vendors.

BLE would not be able to reliably support 1344 kbps, but would be able to support 672 kbps bitrate.
