Running Direct Test Mode with MBN52832 on a custom board

Hello,

  I am trying to use Direct Test Mode example on SDK v17.0.1 to do our product's pre-production RF tests. I can see expected results on nRF Connect Direct Test Mode desktop application. Tricky part is that test groups want to run RF tests using WLAN testers and currently using Rohde & Schwarz CMW500. I found that there are documents and videos about how to run these tests and tried that scenarios only to end up failing. The first problem is that our devices can not be found by CMW500's COM ports. And that problem is common for custom board, nRF52 DK and MBN52832 evaluation board. All three of them can not be seen on the COM port of tester. Therefore we can't start running the tests on CMW500

  Since I am able to run and get results with DTM application, I think if I can find a way to solve this COM port problem I will be able to run the test succesfully.

  So my questions are:

  Custom board, nRF52 DK and MBN52832 EVB are all flashed with DTM example. Is there any other example application to run these tests and see the results on CMW500?

  What could be problem that is causing this COM port issue? Could this be a CMW500 relevant problem? ( FYI: Ports are working properly when we connect mouse to them)

Hi Furkan, 

You need to contact R&S to figure out what could be the issue, if it is a setting or something. The DTM samples we have does not support HCI(that might be the issue), it is only UART, so as long as the CMW500 can excepts UART over USB then i guess it will work, but this is not something we have tested.

Hello again,

We found out why our device could not be recognized on COM port. It appears that R&S CMW500 runs a software on Windows based system. So if COM ports are to be recognized then USB to TTL drivers must be installed on CMW500's Windows OS. After installing needed drivers on Windows, connections were visible on test screen and we were able to perform the RF tests.

I hope this helps if anyone happens to face a similar problem in the future.
