DFU failed with error: Timed out when waiting for target device to disconnect

I am using nRFConnect on windows 10 with the nRF540 Dongle for the first time.  

I am successfully able to connect and view parameters on the nRF52832 using the Dongle.

I am trying to use nrfConnect Windows to download ota to a nRF52832.  

I get the following error:

DFU failed with error: Timed out when waiting for target device to disconnect

The dongle is programmed with: Connectivity firmware version: ble-connectivity 4.1.4+Mar-11-2021-08-36-04. SoftDevice API version: 5. Baud rate: 1000000.

When using nRFConnect on Android, I can reliably do DFU

Please advise how to change the time parameters so I can get around this error.

Hello Scott,

The error indicates that the dfu script timed out waiting for your device to enter DFU mode, which is a bit strange considering you are not having this issue with nRF connect on Android. When you get the error, could you please try to start scanning again and see if the device advertises in DFU mode or not?  This will help confirm if the DFU start command sent by nrf connect made your device enter DFU.
