"SyntaxError: Unable to parse JSON string" while launching segger ide from nrf connect tool chain manager

Hi, I have recently upgraded to a new system with windows 11. I have been working with NCS v1.8.0 on last system and installed the same in new system. all the necessary installations python, chocolatey, west and gnu toolchain are done properly. but it pops an error window saying "SyntaxError: Unable to parse JSON string" when i launch segger ide from toolchain manager.
few devzone tickets suggested to shorten the tool chain paths, remove ncs 2.0.0 and removing duplicate records in registry. tried all of it and reinstalled the nrf connect and toolchain manager also.

can anyone tell me why it is happening like this??

  • Hello,

The newest version of nRF Connect SDK (v2.0.0) does not support Segger, but is supported for older versions of the SDK. We are aware of this issue with Segger IDE after the installation of v2.0.0.. Nordic is currently working on a fix for this issue and will keep you updated.. The only work around for now is to remove v2.0.0 from the toolchain manager.. Does'nt that work for you.?

    Regards,

    Swathy

  • Hi,
I have removed the v2.0.0, it didn't work for me. but what worked is launching the segger ide(emStuido) from the toolchain directory  \\ncs\v1.8.0\toolchain\segger_embedded_studio\bin\  . the ses launches without any errors.
