Debug UART

Hi,

I want to print the log through UART from the Custom board. In Custom Board Uart pins as configured with (RX: P1.00 and TX: P1.01). So, I want to read the log by using the TTL module. So, How do I need to Make configurations According to the above requirements?

Hi Navin,

You could try with the hello_world sample and check if hello_world gets printed. You can also take a look at the peripheral_uart sample, but here, for logging, Segger RTT is used. Since you are using a custom board, you will need to make an overlay file in order to set the proper UART pins for the board.

I have tried this, but this is not working.

I think UART sample or debug using RTT is the only way. but already I am going to use I2c1, i2c2, SPI, and PDM. So, according to the dts I can't able to enable uart in my case right??

Hi Priyanka,

I understood your point.  I want to know the below things also.

1) In the production stage. for debugging purposes which is the best tool  nrf5340dk or any jlink debugger.

2) If the debugger is the best tool to use for production means. Kindly, share with me the correct product link to purchase.

3) and also let me know what is difference between both the tool specifically for debug purpose

The J-link debuggers are specifically for debugging and the DKs have an onboard debugger which you can use for the debugging purpose similar to any stand-alone debuggers. If you wish to connect the DK, you can use the Debug ports on the DK. Unfortunately we cannot recommend any names for external products and you will have to decide this upon your requirements.
