Asset_tracker_v2 in Thingy91 running in which Chip and use of UARTs

1. I want to run asset_tracker_v2 in thingy91 kit. 

2. I want to interface two UART external devices to thingy 91, may the pins of nRF52840 be used ? if yes, in asset_tracker which portion is run in 9160 and which in 52xxx ? 

3. which portion uses IPC in asset_tracker_v2 ?

4. How to send the UART data from 52xxx to 9160 using IPC in thingy91, any sample available ?

We have a precompiled firmware package for the Thingy:91 which the Asset Tracker v2 in .hex format. The package is found in the downloads tab of Thingy:91 product page.

2. I want to interface two UART external devices to thingy 91, may the pins of nRF52840 be used ? if yes, in asset_tracker which portion is run in 9160 and which in 52xxx ? 

The Asset Tracker v2 is programmed to the nRF9160 alone. The nRF52840 on the Thingy:91 enables PC communication and battery charging by running Connectivity Bridge.

3. which portion uses IPC in asset_tracker_v2 ?

There is no use of the IPC service in the Asset Tracker v2.

4. How to send the UART data from 52xxx to 9160 using IPC in thingy91, any sample available ?

No, not on the nRF9160. There is a sample for the nRF5340 alone.

My requirement is:

to add two UART devices on UART1 and 2 resp and keep UART in default functionality in Asset_tracker. All the pins of 9160 are pre-assigned some functionality. No pin is unused. So, I was thinking to use any pins of nrF52840 and then send the data to 9160 in  any way. May the EGU and PPI be used for data sharing b/w 9160 and 52840 ?

There are shared pins between the nRF9160 and nRF52840, as explained in the Thingy:91 Hardware Guide

P0.18	MCU_IF0	nRF52840 interface
P0.19	MCU_IF1	nRF52840 interface
P0.20	MCU_IF2	nRF52840 interface
P0.21	MCU_IF3	nRF52840 interface
P0.22	MCU_IF4	nRF52840 interface
P0.23	MCU_IF5	nRF52840 interface
P0.24	MCU_IF6	nRF52840 interface
P0.25	MCU_IF7	nRF52840 interface

These can be used to share data from the nRF52840 to nRF9160. e.g. as UART, SPI, or TWI. You can connect your external devices to the available interface connector e.g. P6 that has six spare GPIO pins of the nRF52840.
