Actinius Icarus + Nordicsemi asset tracker: adaptations?

Hi!

I have the Actinius Icarus board pre-loaded with the Actinius asset tracker firmware.

Lets say I instead want to load the Nordicsemi asset tracker firmware on the nRF9160 instead - what do I need to change in the source code? I know the Actinius board has a different accelerometer compared to the nRF9160 DK (among other things), so there are a couple of pin inputs and outputs that need to be reconfigured. Anything else that needs to be done?

Hi,

Just a quick first reply, I would recommend that you also check out other forums, like ones that are dedicated to the Icarus board or check on the Zephyr forums also.

But in short, if you have the board files for the Icarus, then if you where to build the Asset Tracker V2 application it should work, it might not have alle the extra sensors like the Thingy91 has but is should do the same job as the nRF9160 DK at least. You might also find others here on Devzone that have asked similar questions before.

Thanks Jonathan. I'm a bit unfamiliar with Zephyr so I will do some reading there.

But basically what you're saying is that I just need to point to the right board file and it should work? I guess I need to flash a different set of certificates to the modem if I want to connect to AWS or the nRF cloud?

I dont know haow you have buildt the applicaiton you are now using, but if you used pre compiled hexfile that is avalable for our DK or Thingy91 from our website that will not work, and the same would go for if you where to build the sample with the buildcommends for th eThingy91 og nRF9160DK.

You would need to a custom board file, or build for the DK but with an overlay file. But the Icarus board seems to be supported in Zephyr, https://docs.zephyrproject.org/3.1.0/boards/arm/actinius_icarus/doc/index.html, so i thin buidling whatever applicaion you wnat for that board should be fine.
