Can't connect to LTE network with NRF9160DK, err -14

Hi.

I'm trying to run the http client sample for nrf9160 using nRF Connect SDK, but when I flash the board it gives this output:

Waiting for network.. Failed to connect to the LTE network, err -14

I was trying before this to use the board as a server creating a listening socket, but when I saw it failed I tried to run first the sample, which doesn't work either.

Is there any way to approach this?

First of all; Can you provide more information on your setup? What SIM card are you using? And what version of the nRF Connect SDK and modem FW are you running?

Do you mean the

HTTPS client - nrf\samples\nrf9160\https_client\

or 

HTTP client - zephyr\samples\net\sockets\http_client\

What address are you trying to connect?

The SIM I'm using is from iBASIS.

As for the versions, I'm using v1.8.0 in nRF Connect SDK and mfw-m1_nrf9160_0.6.6-46.prealpha of the modem FW.

I'm referring to the first one, the sample made for nrf9160 specifically, so the address used is the one that appears in the source code by default, www.example.com.

This is wrong, and very outdated. What nRF9160 platform are you using? The development kit or the Thingy:91? If any of those, please provide the version number of the kits.

I'm using the development kit. I also tried to update the firmware using the programmer tool, but it failed and now I can't find a way to recover the board, as it won't let me flash anything again.

EDIT: Somehow the board got detected again and I could update the firmware. Now the problem is that AT Client sample I used to check the version doesn't work after flashing it to the board.

What version of the nRF9160DK are you using? This is visible on the sticker on the back of the board.

Can you reprogram the AT client?

The version is 0.8.3 (there is also another number which is 2018.51, I don't know if this also indicates the version number).

Yes, I tried reprogramming it, but it fails with every command using the LTE Link Monitor.

This board is very old, and outdated. Current version is v1.1.0. The nRF9160 SiP on this board is the B0 (ver 1). Please see PCN134

What version of the modem FW did you update to? Ref. release notes of modem FW v1.3.x

• Note that this modem firmware is targeted nRF9160 SiP Revision 2 

• It can be used for nRF9160 SiP Revision 1, but only for testing and development

• It cannot be used for engineering samples of Revision 1 (e.g. DKs or Thingy:91 with version older than v0.9.0) 

• After you upgrade to MFW 1.3.x it is not recommended to downgrade to MFW 1.2.x or MFW 1.1.x.(potential file system issues)

I indeed updated the firmware to 1.3.1, so I guess that is what is causing the problem. In that case, is there any replacement program so we can change this board for a new one?
