52832 RX only run current (DCDC, 3V) 1Msps / 1Msps BLE

Hi Support team,

According our spec 52832 rx is about 5.4mA, but actually i measured our example, it is about 7.1mA, may i ask where is the gap? so i suspect it is because of DMA or HF_XTAL?

so customer is asking me about 60ms scan window and 1.2s idle sleep, i need to calculate the current consumption as 7.1mA not 5.4mA for customer.

Yes, that is correct. It's due to the clock tree and DMA.

In all other nRF52-series devices, there's a current consumption chapter where compounded characteristics are specified. Here's an example for nRF52811:

I can also recommend that you check out the power calculator for the nRF52832, which is based on measured values:

Here you'll see similar average current as you currently measure.

So according to 832 DK, this value is 6.5mA, but it is typical value, there is no max and min value in this table, i measured it as 7 to 7.1mA, how can i explain to customer? customer should use 7mA not 6.5mA to calculate battery, right?

The measurements in the PS is without clock tree and DMA, so the real-life will be a bit higher, as shown in the power calculator.

The customer should calculate the overall current consumption using the power calculator by setting up the intervals and configuration as per their requirements, and this should give the customer a indication on what the BLE link itself should use. In addition, any application based processing will be on top of this calculation.
