201 component size on nrf52840/21540 development board

Hello support,

Your choice of 201 size component packages are not ideal for manufacturing (and HW debug). I understand some of the reasoning especially on 21540 antenna circuit.
However it seems like it was perhaps also just generally used as 201 is used where it may not be needed?

Can you give some advice on where 201 size should be used versus where a 402 or even 603 would be acceptable?

I'm only interested in the nrf52840 and nrf21540 circuit. Same package used as on eval board.

Hi,

We recommend using 0201 or 0402 sizes for all the components in the RF path. These are the nRF52840 matching components, the nRF21540 input and output filter components, the 49.9Ohm resistor on ANT 2 when one antenna is used, and the antenna matching components.

For the remaining external components the package size is not important as long as the components used have similar specifications as listed in the reference schematics, but we recommend sticking to the component sizes used in the reference designs when possible:

402's is a bit better for manufacturing.
