NCS1.9.1/MFW1.3.1 compatibility

Hello,

We have got some devices in the field that run mfw1.3.1 and an application that have some issues with preforming modem FOTA correctly. I'd like to update them to a new application version, that is built for NCS1.9.1. According to the firmware compatibility matrix, mfw1.3.1 is only supported by NCS up to 1.9.0, but according to the NCS1.9.1 changelog there were no changes in the modem and networking libraries. Is there any known issues that makes NCS1.9.1 incompatible, or is it just not supported? Should I backport to NCS1.9.0 (a rebuild would probably be enough, but having to pick specific binaries for specific devices is a bit of a mess)?

The modem firmware compatibility matrix shows the modem firmware and NCS versions that have been tested from our side. That does not mean that other combinations are not supported or possible, rather than that we will not be able to guarantee their compatibility.  

Should I backport to NCS1.9.0 (a rebuild would probably be enough, but having to pick specific binaries for specific devices is a bit of a mess)?

That being said, I do not expect it to be a problem if you update your devices with an application build in NCS v1.9.1. But I of course recommend you performing a test run before updating the devices you have out in the field.
