I've used the module https://github.com/NordicSemiconductor/cloud-firmware-ci-device-helpers-js to create device certificates for a nRF9160 device and then AWS JITP when the device connects. The module uses PC to sign the modem generated key and the PC connection requires UART.
I'm facing a problem that I have a product that doesn't have UART available. Is it possible to do the signing process inside the device? Or is a bootstrapping certificate better way to go?

Hi IIkka,
I did not see the possibility of provisioning one device without interfacing it through UART. For JITP, you need to write certificates into the modem. For Preconnect provisioning, you must read our certificate signing request (CSR) generated by the AT%KEYGEN command.
Also, I think Preconnect provisioning should be the correct choice since you are working on a real product. You can refer to the following chart. It is based on nRF Cloud, but should be similar to AWS.
