No output on nRF52840DK after using custom board dts

I have a compiling program when using the stock nRF52840dk_nrf52840.dts file, it outputs to the USB port to a serial terminal on a comm port.

As soon as i use my custom board file, which was a copy and paste of the stock board file and i removed the unused stuff. Only thing i left were the button and led gpios and &spi1 and memory area, see below for the custom dts file. But for whatever reason, it stopped outputting to the serial port. There is also something inside the stock dts file i cannot find, because i also had to add CONIFG_PINCNTRL=y to the proj.conf file, where i did not have to do that before. So i feel like the nf52840dk_nrf52840.dts is somehow calling some functions i am unaware of, 1 of which is to set CONFIG_PINCNTL=y. so is theresome CONFIG thing I am unaware of to allow for printk to putput to the USB of the dev board?
