nrf5340: Using GPIOs on P1 in non-secure mode without changing spm.c in the SDK

Hello,

we would like to use a pin on GPIO P1 as GPIO in non-secure mode, but only found the solution stated in this thread yet: https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/f/nordic-q-a/68786/p1-04-configuration-on-nrf5340

The question is: Is it possible to enable P1 as GPIO in non-secure mode without changing the nrf SDK tree or the zephyr tree?

Hi Niklas,

In v2.0.0 and newer of the nRF Connect SDK, the TF-M secure peripheral partition show how you can do this.

Thank you for your fast reply!

I reopened this because we didn't manage to set GPIO 1.9 by creating this secure partition. Is there perhaps a simple example we could use for this? The example you linked contains a lot of other methods we don't need and also uses the GPIO as an interrupt input as opposed to setting a simple output.

Hi Niklas,

I might have misunderstood your usecase.
First I though you wanted to control GPIO1 from the Secure partition.

But you want to control GPIO1 from your Non-Secure application (main.c), right?

In this case, I do not think you need to do anything special.
SPM might have set P1.04 to Secure by default, but TF-M has different defaults.
I added a sample blinking Pin 1.04 to show how. (The sample is a copy of the Zephyr Blinky Sample.)
